If you’ve researched ayahuasca (a psycho-active plant used in conjunction with another plant in shamanic healing) and the ceremonies associated with “the Mother Vine”, you’ll hear stories of great healing…until the person goes back into their daily routine of limiting beliefs and mind-generated programs. These programs of the mind have been created through years of conditioning and can be difficult to resolve. They get created when something is said or done and our mind reacts with a  conditioned response (program). This happens so much that we identify ourselves with the programs. A trauma happens and the mind creates a new program of belief which it will now relate back to when a perceived sliver of the initial trauma is activated. Unless these core beliefs and programs are released, the lasting positive effects of the healing ceremony or counseling therapy start to diminish. This is one of reasons why I offer long-term mentoring and coaching, to extend and expand support for people on the path to healing, life-transformation and self-realization.

In the past, there were themes in my own life that caused suffering, which kept recurring. They had to do with guilt, obligation, feeling insignificant, unappreciated and unacknowledged…all egoic in nature. I was eventually able to look back on my life and see how those themes played out in my life, right down to being in the womb. There was a huge spotlight pointed right at it. Though, it was very clear what it was, how it manifested, the possible purpose of it and deep healing around it…still, tiny fragments would still show up. I’d clearly see my current life as complete opposites of my old themes, but there it was. Why was “It” or why were “They” still there? Was there more for me to learn? More karma to clear?

Here’s some interesting perspectives from others…

Teal Swan
Most people are too afraid to question their realities and perceptions because they are too afraid to unravel the fabric of the reality that allows them to comfort themselves. They want to preserve their sense of certainty by maintaining illusions. Illusions at least promise that everything was ok, is ok and will be ok. This is why there are not more people in the business of self awareness.

Abraham-Hicks
In your world today there are countless action remedies, medicines, surgeries, and exercises offered—but there are not enough actions in the world to compensate for vibrational resistance. Since every disease or unwanted condition exists because Well-Being is being disallowed, then, in the absence of that disallowance, well-being will return.

Examples:

  1. Resentments you wish to keep
  2. Guilt you don’t want to look at.
  3. Fear that causes you anxiety to think about.

It is a common thing for people to begin to lean in the direction of recovery, only to stop and take score too soon. And when they still find unwanted symptoms or conditions, they then offer resistant thought and lose the improved ground they have gained. With consistent releasing of resistance, all unwanted conditions will subside, returning you to your natural state of Well-Being.

You could stand here sick with ten illnesses today, and tomorrow have no evidence of any of them. Your body has the ability to replenish itself that fast. But most of you do not have the ability to change your thoughts that fast. So the amount of time that it takes between sickness and wellness is only the amount of time that it takes for me to figure out how to let it in — for me to figure out how to feel good, when I’m looking at something that makes me feel bad.”

Shamanic CeremonyDistraction is Healing
Could it be that healing (especially spontaneous healing) happens when the mind is distracted? Could it be that we have become focused on yet another modality that promises healing and the actual active ingredient is distraction? There is actually a process in psychology called “Distraction Therapy”, which is used to “divert the attention of a patient from an unpleasant clinical experience.” I realize that this is what I’ve been doing in the healing work that I do, in a slightly different way.  I add a lot to the process…presence, compassion, empathy (direct experience), self-inquiry, sound vibration and enhanced awareness. This allows me or the person I’m working with to shift into a new reality or consciousness. Healing modalities (breathwork, sound therapy, reiki, counseling, shamanic rituals, EFT, ThetaHealing, Emotion Code, etc.) for certain people can all serve as “distractions to the resistance or mind program” for enough time to break the pattern or halt the program and allow the mind/body wellness again (its natural state). If you consider yourself in the healing arts or in any heART, you are a catalyst for healing to occur…through distraction.

girls runningThe added ingredient is to “release the resistance”, so that the shift stays shifted. Consider this parable of sorts: Two twin sisters, Sally and Sandy, love competitive running. They are exactly alike, down to their toenails. They train and eat together. Everything about them is identical. They decide to race each other. When race time comes, Sally puts her “lucky penny” in her pocket. But, Sandy doesn’t. Sandy wins the race. Moral: Do not sabotage yourself by carrying around anything that causes resistance. Do whatever you can to release the past and enlighten yourself.

I Know. But…
If you are still frustrated about the lack of healing, consider that there could be a pattern or program that you’ve identified with that stands in the way, such as: “I’m the one who has tried everything” or possibly that you have “hopelessness” as one of your “themes”. It may be time to ask “What is this pattern/program giving to me? If this pattern was cleared, what would you lose?” For me, if I cleared my pattern of guilt and obligation, I might lose love, significance, appreciation and acknowledgment. Once I did clear it, I was presented with episodes where guilt and obligation could have been activated, but I instead practiced Self-Love and following my own excitement (thank you Michael Hamilton). In that, I found the other half of my theme – self love, liberation, freedom.

Now, ready for a “mind blown” moment for healers? On another level, consider that there is no “Other” and the distraction that you create is actually for yourself and is reflected outside yourself to this person you call “patient” or “client”. So, we attract those in front of us that are vehicles for our own healing “experience”.

Now for another mind blowing moment. In the above paragraph, I distinctly wrote “healing ‘experience’”. You as the Soul are the only Knower and the only Experiencer. We exist or abide only as loving awareness. An easier way of understanding this concept is to think of the experience of dreaming. You, the dreamer, are untouchable in the dream. You absolutely experience the dream. It is not the character in the dream who knows and experiences. We, as conscious awareness, are the dreamer. We keep ourselves in the karmic loop by continuing to identify ourselves with the character and what the conditioned mind produces (programs).  And yet, within every experience there is loving awareness…even in anger, sadness and fear.

So, What To Do?
Follow your heart and your excitement. Be open to a perspective that provides expansion and happiness in your life. Ask yourself, “How would my life change if I loved myself in all ways more than anything or anyone? Why does my mind have a rebuttal to that question?” What if you surrendered and embraced the Truth of who you are?  You are not really here. You are not seeing through your eyes….you are seeing through the body. Consider that every time you’ve had a thought about something or someone, it was never True. It was only a thought.

The moment a child is told what a bird is, if they believe what they are told, then they never see a bird again.
They only see their thoughts.
